New York Counsel Suzanne Berger authored an article recently published by Practical Law, from Thomson Reuters, outlining the procedures to obtain or vacate a default judgment in New York State Courts under Civil Practice Law and Rules. The article discusses a litigant’s path to obtain a default judgment was well as ways to oppose a default judgment motion and related appellate issues. These procedures also apply to the New York City Civil Court, the Nassau and Suffolk County District Courts, and to the City Courts outside of New York City.
