Frankfurt Partner Prof. Dr. Bernd Geier co-authored an article for Wirtschafts Woche, alongside Prof. Thorsten Sellhorn of Ludwig-Maximilians University, published on Oct. 3. Short sellers have recently made a name for themselves again at Wirecard and the leasing company Grenke. Geier and Sellhorn explain short sellers are controversial as beneficiaries of price declines and demonized by some as criminal manipulators, although others can see them as guarantors of transparency and price efficiency on the capital market.
