London Senior Associate Mark Kaye authored an article published May 26 by Personnel Today on how the UK furlough scheme has evolved and the next steps employers need to consider. While the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been extended to Oct. 31, it is likely that starting Aug. 1 the scheme will become more flexible and allow part-time furloughing. “What seems clear is that the government wants employers to take a more proactive approach about whether they should be retaining their workforce or whether they should be taking steps to make redundancies,” he wrote.
