While the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has been extended to Oct. 31, it is likely that starting Aug. 1 the scheme will become more flexible and allow part-time furloughing. “What seems clear is that the government wants employers to take a more proactive approach about whether they should be retaining their workforce or whether they should be taking steps to make redundancies,” he wrote.
