Shear and Street Byline Article for ‘The Times’ on Proposed European Football League
Nov 13, 2020Commercial Disputes Co-Lead and London Partner Graham Shear and Senior Associate Andrew Street wrote an article for The Times, first published Nov. 12, on the potential European premier league format and the underlying tensions between the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). “If implemented, the league will mean that clubs risk becoming pawns in the strategic struggle between Fifa and Uefa while also getting embroiled in legal disputes, European Commission investigations and commercial uncertainty if they pull the trigger on the proposal,” they explained.
