Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has signed up as a founding member of the UK social mobility charity, Aspiring Solicitors Foundation (AS Foundation) which seeks to remove financial barriers for young people entering the legal profession. The AS Foundation will formally launch in January 2020 with nine major firms announced as founding members.

The foundation will provide support for individuals looking to enter the industry by funding scholarships, providing grants for equipment such as laptops, stationery and books, providing clothing for interviewing individuals and paying for transport to events and legal work experience.

London Partner and Social Inclusivity Champion, Tim Smith commented: BCLP is committed to taking meaningful steps to broaden access to the legal profession.  As a founding member of the AS Foundation, we are proud to support efforts to remove barriers to entry faced by aspiring lawyers.

The AS Foundation will launch in association with Aspiring Solicitors – the legal talent development platform that aims to increase diversity within the legal industry. Alongside BCLP, the other AS Foundation founders are Allen & Overy, Barclays, BPP, DWF, Lawyer Talent Network, Mayer Brown, Norton Rose Fulbright, RPC, Travers Smith, XTX Markets.
