Regulation changes in France have strengthened the criminal penalties for companies and individuals found in violation of tax rules. Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner’s Paris office recently hosted a breakfast debate for clients and colleagues to highlight these changes and offer guidance on how best to move forward.

Paris Counsel David Père and Cécile Terret, both noted criminal justice specialists, led the event on recent legislative upheavals and the associated risks. They outlined how to determine tax procedures with a penal stake; how to prepare a tax audit by mobilizing the right people; and how to organize a defense strategy appropriate in the context of a dual procedure (tax and judicial).

Nearly 40 attendees joined BCLP’s tax and criminal specialists as they shared their experience and provided insights to better understand this evolving criminal tax area.
