BCLP Partner Andrey Spektor was quoted July 7 by The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Fortune Magazine, and Time Magazine concerning the across-the-board conviction of Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, the former top lieutenant to Theranos Inc. founder Elizabeth Holmes. The Journal discussed the potential impact of Balwani’s conviction on Holmes, ending the piece with Andrey’s observation that, “If [the judge] gives her a big break he is going to think how will it look if he sentences Balwani differently.”  Andrey, a former federal prosecutor, also provided comments to Bloomberg, noting that the case against Balwani was “to some extent . . . stronger” than against Holmes, in part because prosecutors “didn’t have to worry about the sympathy theme on which Holmes ended her defense.”
