A transaction led by a Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner team has won the “Special Situations M&A Deal of the Year” at the 2021 Turnaround Atlas Awards.

Special Situations Co-Chair and New York Partner Andrew Schoulder and Atlanta Partners Mark Duedall and Leah Fiorenza McNeill led the firm’s representation of Loot Crate, a subscription-based tech and popular culture goods supplier, from brink of meltdown through an expedited 40-day section 363 sale process in its Chapter 11 cases. BCLP’s representation required 72-hour negotiation of debtor in possession financing and creation of solutions to address first-in-time issues arising from credit card processors seeking to exercise remedies, Wayfair sales tax issues, and challenge of merchant cash advances.

Others on the cross-practice BCLP team of key support included Santa Monica Counsel Stefani Thomas (special situations M&A), Phoenix Associate Khaled Tarazi (restructuring), St. Louis Counsel David Unseth (restructuring and finance), Santa Monica Associate Jasdeep Atwal (litigation), St. Louis Partner Harold Burroughs (finance), St. Louis Counsel Derek Rose (tax), St. Louis Associate Jacob Crabtree (finance), Santa Monica Counsel Kaye Steinsapir (employment) and Phoenix Partner Kyle Hirsch (restructuring).

The Turnaround Atlas Awards annually honor the best value-creating transactions, outstanding firms, professionals and leaders from the global restructuring, insolvency and distressed investing communities.
