New York Associate Rocio A. Chavez was featured in the September edition of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law alumni newsletter for her corporate practice, pro bono work and leadership in the Hispanic community. Chavez regularly advises not-for-profit organizations on corporate matters and recently represented a transgender woman in her application for asylum in partnership with Immigration Equality, a United States nonprofit organization that advocates for and directly represents LGBTQ and HIV-positive people in the immigration system.
In her practice at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, Chavez represents issuers in initial and other public offerings in national and over the counter markets and manages the ongoing securities compliance and reporting obligations of various clients. She also represents public and private acquirers and targets in M&A transactions, including acquisitions of public companies. Chavez is an active member of the Lawyers of Color and Women’s Forum affinity groups and a leader in the Hispanic National Bar Association – New York region.
