Bryan Cave’s Denver Office was featured Dec. 11 in Law Week Colorado for the office’s new partnership with Social Venture Partners (SVP) Denver. The partnership will give the firm’s associates the opportunity to apply legal skills in the nonprofit sector. Members will participate in an education program that highlights SVP nonprofit partners and the work they do in the community and ways in which legal advice and business skillsets translate into their business models. In the future, Bryan Cave associates will help with functions like financial management, communication strategies and performance metrics.
“We’re very focused on training the next generation to think as holistic business partners to clients,” Chief Innovation Office Katie DeBord said. “We all need to have a specialty and expertise, but in order to do that you need to understand a business as a whole, and that varies from client to client, but there are commonalities in understanding the system and those are equally applicable in the nonprofit sector.”
Bryan Cave is the first law firm to become a member of SVP Denver.
Founded in 2000, SVP Denver started as a giving circle among friends who wanted to use their skills and resources to make an impact in their local community. Since then, the network has grown to more than 250 partners. SVP Denver is a program of The Denver Foundation, one of SVP’s 40 affiliates worldwide.
