The international law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) advised Sonae Sierra and MAB Development on the sale of shopping center “Hofgarten Solingen” by way of a complex share deal to two companies based in Luxemburg, which were advised by Revcap Advisers Limited.

Hofgarten Solingen is the largest shopping center in the German city of Solingen and, after Allee-Center in Remscheid, the second-largest shopping center in the area Bergisches Land. The property in Kölner Straße in Solingen, Germany, offers 22,700 sqm of retail and 1,800 sqm of restaurant space. The more than 60 tenants include, among others, electronics retailer Saturn and the grocery chain Edeka. The city of Solingen is close to Düsseldorf and Cologne and in the center of the economically strong Rhine-Ruhr region.

Sonae Sierra is an international retail real estate company with 11 offices in Europe, Africa and South America that develops, manages and invests in sustainable retail assets. The company owns 41 shopping centers with a market value of more than 7 billion euros.

A BCLP team led by Berlin Partner Hanns-William Mülsch provided Sonae Sierra and MAB with comprehensive advice on this transaction. Further members of the team specialized in real estate transactions were Counsel Dr. Katharina von Rosenstiel (real estate), Senior Associate and Tax Adviser Dominik Ernst (tax) and Associate Ann-Katrin Schulte (real estate).
