A weekly virtual forum co-founded last year by BCLP Partner Claire Morel de Westgaver was presented with the Best Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge Award at the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) Awards, held July 1. It also was nominated for the Best Innovation Award.

Mute Off Thursdays was launched in April 2020 by arbitration practitioners Ema Vidak Gojković, of Vidak Arbitration (New York); Gaëlle Filhol, of Betto Perben Pradel Filhol (Paris); Catherine Anne Kunz, of Lalive (Geneva); and Claire Morel de Westgaver of BCLP (London), who serve as its co-chairs.

Aimed at midlevel to senior women, the forum began with only 42 women and has grown to reach nearly 500 women in arbitration globally. Weekly 30 minute meetings are held to share knowledge, views and experiences on arbitration-related issues and promote female leadership in arbitration.

The co-chairs recently told GAR on Mute Off Thursdays’ first anniversary: “We could not be prouder of the Mute Off community we have built and our wonderful speakers who have helped us amplify women’s voices and stay 'stronger together' in this difficult time.”
