BCLP Partners Doug Thompson and Vicki Westerhaus presented at the ACI 2nd Annual Summit on ESG: Building a Better Future for All: Aligning People, Profit, and Purpose by Unlocking ESG Opportunities, held Oct. 12 in New York. 

Doug spoke on the panel "Aligning Business Strategy with ESG." Doug joined financial services industry and other sector ESG leaders to assess how businesses can drive ESG business strategy, embed sustainability, social and governance best practices throughout the organization and identify and mitigate potential ESG related regulatory and litigation risks, such as greenwashing, brand washing and other disclosure, operations and reputation risks. Doug also provided an overview of emerging regulations and legislation in the US and EU that will impact ESG reporting, disclosure and business strategy in the future for local, regional and global operations. 

Vicki joined the panel "Analyzing the Impact of the SEC Climate Disclosure Rule." Vicki and her fellow panelists (two SEC alums and a Moody’s director) took a deep dive on the potential impact of the SEC's proposed climate disclosure rules.  The discussion focused on the status of the current proposed rules and comments received to date, dealing with investor expectations, navigating Scope 3 disclosure issues, and understanding SEC enforcement actions and emerging ESG litigation, among other things.
