The global law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP has announced that A. James Shafter is rejoining the M&A and Corporate Finance Group as a senior advisor. Shafter will reside in the St. Louis office.
Shafter was previously with the firm as of counsel. He rejoins from COFCO International Ltd, Geneva, Switzerland, where he was general counsel. Prior to that Shafter was vice president of mergers & acquisitions with Archer- Daniels- Midland Company.
In addition to mergers and acquisitions work, Shafter’s practice will focus on general corporate matters, banking, corporate governance, governmental affairs, and commercial litigation.
“Alongside his 30 years of experience in private practice, Jim brings to BCLP an in-house perspective of being responsible for global M&A activities and major litigation matters at one of the most admired companies in the food production industry,” said BCLP M&A and Corporate Finance Practice Co-Leader John Welge. “Jim will be a tremendous asset to clients on transactional matters and will again be a great asset to our internationally recognized Agribusiness & Food Practice.”
