Paris Senior Counsel Joseph Smallhoover was recently elected to the post of international counsel of Democrats Abroad, at the organization’s election meeting held in Washington, D.C.

Democrats Abroad is recognized by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as a state party committee. It sends a delegation to the DNC as well as to the Democratic National Convention every four years.

As international counsel, Smallhoover will sit on the Executive Committee of Democrats Abroad. Deeply involved with Democrats Abroad and the DNC itself, Smallhoover previously held the same post from 1991-1995 and from 2003-2011. In addition, he previously served on the Democrats Abroad Executive Committee as international chair from 1999-2003, international vice chair from 1995-1999, chair of the group’s LGBT Caucus from 2008-2013, and as a member of the DNC from 1995-2003 and from 2008-2012.
