Zweig in ‘Business Insurance’ on Unclear Work Issues after Supreme Court’s LGBTQ Ruling
Phoenix Partner Jay Zweig was quoted June 23 by Business Insurance concerning the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Bostock, which bars workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Zweig discuss the impact of this long-anticipated decision, and that employers should expect further litigation if they do not proactively comply, update policies, and train supervisors to address disparate and discriminatory treatment. He also noted that although some media has called the ruling “surprising” many employers have made progress towards eradicating discrimination. “Major employers in the country, either on their own to attract talent or because of state or local laws, already are in compliance with this,” he said.
