Bernice Diaz is an associate in the Irvine office. She is a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor and Commercial Disputes Practice Groups. Ms. Diaz handles employer-side employment and labor law, representing employers in wage and hour class actions and representative actions under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) before state and federal courts. Ms. Diaz has extensive experience defending clients in actions brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH). She also handles complex commercial disputes covering a wide range of business areas, including breach of contract, unfair competition, fraud, wrongful foreclosure, and consumer financial services.

Ms. Diaz attended the University of California Irvine School of Law, where she was a staff editor of the UC Irvine Law Review and a teaching assistant to first-year law students in the legal writing class. During law school, Ms. Diaz served as a judicial extern to the Honorable David O. Carter at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She also served as a legal extern for the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service where she drafted memoranda in response to legal advice requests from IRS field agents and conducted research on bankruptcy and tax-related issues.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Diaz worked at a corporate bank in San Diego researching structured settlement cases. She graduated cum laude from the University of California San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Accounting.

Ms. Diaz was a summer associate in the firm’s Irvine office in 2018.
