Lisa Demet Martin is the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer. In this role, she is responsible for developing and driving strategic solutions to advance the firm’s diversity and inclusivity goals in the United States. Prior to assuming this role, Lisa was a partner in the firm’s litigation department where she practiced in the commercial and employment litigation groups. Lisa also served in various firm management roles, including on the firm’s management and executive committees.
Lisa Martin has been lead counsel in the defense of all types of employment litigation matters including claims of age, sex, race and disability discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, Family Medical Leave Act, ERISA, wrongful discharge and various tort claims. Ms. Martin also has defended clients in class actions and pattern and practice suits alleging sex, age and race discrimination, and in EEOC litigation. In addition, Ms. Martin has advised clients regarding compliance with various federal employment statutes and development and implementation of employee policies, including discipline, leave and termination. She also has broad experience conducting sexual harassment investigations.
Ms. Martin has tried cases in Missouri state and federal courts, and in state administrative agencies. She also has experience in state and federal appellate courts, and has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation.
