Riley is an associate in the firm’s Private Funds and Investment Management practice groups. His practice focuses on formation and operations of private investment funds and related investment adviser and other compliance issues. In that capacity, Riley represents a wide range of private funds in a variety of asset classes, from established sponsors managing hundreds of millions of dollars to those launching their first funds. Riley also counsels private fund managers in their organizational planning, structuring and profit sharing arrangements.
Prior to joining the firm, Riley served as in-house counsel for an international asset manager with over USD 90 billion in assets under management. During his time in-house he drafted limited partnership agreements and private placement memoranda for investment vehicles, led investments into third party funds, and managed matters related to fund investments—including fund restructurings and liquidity opportunities. He is also experienced in private equity secondary transactions, having closed over USD 1.6 billion of fund interests. Riley’s previous experience also includes interning with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Colorado Supreme Court.
