Thomas (Tom) Walsh has tried numerous lawsuits in state and federal courts covering a range of subjects including antitrust, employment discrimination, commercial transactions, constitutional law and trademarks. He has argued more than 350 appeals, including six cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.

  • Silver v. H&R Block, Inc.  obtained affirmance of dismissal of federal securities law claims for nondisclosure
  • Brown Group, Inc. v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue  obtained reversal of Tax Court decision against taxpayer involving $6 million in income taxes arising from international operations
  • Hutson v. McDonnell Douglas Corp.  upheld summary judgment for employer in age discrimination case involving reduction in force
  • Gilbert/Robinson, Inc. v. Carrie Beverage Co.  Obtained outright reversal of $3.1 million award for fraud on the patent office
  • Glover v. McDonnell Douglas Corporation  Obtained reversal of $230,000 damage award in age discrimination case 

Representative Recent State Court Appeals

  • Barnett v. Turbomeca, S.A.  obtained $320 million remittitur in fatal helicopter crash
  • Boyer v. Bandag, Inc. obtained outright reversal of $4 million product liability award
  • Associated Industries of Missouri v. Director of Revenue  persuaded court to invalidate Missouri’s additional 1.5 percent use tax in its entirety in case involving $165 million in taxes
