Bryan Cave has long been recognized as being on the cutting edge in terms of identifying, implementing, and developing technologies that solve our clients’ most pressing legal problems. Indeed, CIO Magazine has recognized Bryan Cave as one of the top 100 companies (not just law firms) in the world for this kind of attention to client needs.

Bryan Cave’s eDiscovery Services Group (known as the Accelerated Review Team or “ARTSM”) leverages these capabilities to provide cost effective, state-of-the-art discovery management. We offer clients “A to Z” electronic discovery management, including strategies for litigation holds, data preservation and collection, and best practices for maintaining defensible search, review and production protocols. We deliver these services by utilizing leading edge technology tools (such as conceptual data analysis, search and review software) to make the document review process faster and less expensive without sacrificing quality.

We think outside the box to maximize savings for clients, through strategies like alternative fee arrangements, internal data processing, and internal hosting of document review and case management platforms.

The core of the group is a cadre of skilled staff attorneys and technologists directed by an experienced litigator who has practiced at Bryan Cave for more than a decade and has strong relationships with our attorneys and clients. That core team is expanded or contracted as necessary by means of (mainly long-term) contract personnel with a wide range of subject matter specialties tailored to the needs of our clients.

Speed to Review: Many of our matters operate on tight time schedules and require extraordinarily rapid ramp-ups of document review teams. We conduct thorough due diligence on all of our reviewers and pre-screen them for conflicts in advance of every engagement. Our screening protocol and internal facilities allow us to train and supervise document review teams of up to 50 or more project lawyers — and provide them with secure office space, computers and other logistical support.

On-Shore, On-Site Economics: We control costs by staffing our eDiscovery teams in St. Louis, one of the lowest cost metropolitan centers in the United States. The fact that our eDiscovery Annex is local and internal, not off-site at a remote or temporary location, helps eliminate supervision and quality control issues. Our review teams are closely supervised by Bryan Cave attorneys intimately involved in the merits of the case. Constant interaction with our internal project managers yields efficient, quality assistance for Bryan Cave attorneys and clients

  • In a highly sensitive internal investigation for a technology company, ARTSM leveraged Viewpoint’s advanced analytics to reduce a 2 million document corpus down to only 30,000 for review and quickly advise the client about its risk exposure. ARTSM utilized tools such as Viewpoint’s Email Thread Analyzer and Concept Analyzer, and streamlined review by using “predictive coding” to assign Relevancy Probability Rankings to the documents confirmed by attorneys to be most important.
  • ARTSM utilized advanced analytics and targeted search terms to reduce a corpus of more than 200,000 documents by over 91% to timely respond to a government subpoena in a complex securities litigation. This process allowed ARTSM to efficiently streamline the review of a database in a fraction of the time it would otherwise require using manual review methods.
  • ARTSM regularly acts as an extension of Bryan Cave trial teams across the country to provide support for depositions, witness examination preparation, documentary evidence compilation and pre-trial motion compliance. On the eve of one recent trial, ARTSM reviewed more than 27,000 documents over a weekend to make a supplemental production pursuant to a court order. Our work was instrumental to a successful outcome for the client.
