BCLP’s Chief Innovation Officer Katie DeBord will chair LegalWeek’s 2018 Strategic Technology Forum USA, Oct. 10-12 in Laguna Beach, Calif. This year’s agenda is dedicated to ideas that help protect law firm profitability while adding value for clients.

“Driving profit growth is a luxury in today’s challenging and competitive marketplace,” LegalWeek noted. “For many businesses, including law firms, protecting the profit levels that we currently have is more realistic. But this has to be achieved in a buyers’ market, where the client is demanding more value, efficiency and collaboration from their external counsel.”

The annual Strategic Technology Forum brings together speakers armed with information and practical case studies to help attendees with their strategic planning over the next 12 months. Topics this year will range from concrete steps to improve the customer experience to preparing for a cyberattack, as well as interactive breakout sessions and working groups.

At Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, DeBord is chief innovation officer and co-leader of BCXponent, the firm’s legal operations consulting group. In her role, DeBord leads the firm’s Innovation Team, which is an international cross-disciplinary team dedicated to legal service delivery innovation. As part of the firm’s commitment to adopting and driving technology-enabled practices where appropriate, DeBord also oversees the firm’s TechX group, which is a group of lawyers, technologists and related professionals who participate in technology trials and prototypes relevant to their practice areas. DeBord also serves as an advisor to the firm’s various initiatives to train its associates in legal innovation, including in the firm’s internationally recognized Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner Business Academy.
