Partners Renato Mariotti and David Rundle spoke at a Futures Industry Association (FIA) webinar on July 20. Hosted by Deputy General Counsel of FIA, Michael Sorrell, the discussion highlighted current enforcement trends in cases brought by futures and derivatives regulators in the US and UK.

Topics included an analysis of the related risks to firms, how trends in one jurisdiction can help firms prepare for enforcement in other jurisdictions, and how best firms can ensure and demonstrate compliance in those areas of regulatory priority.

Renato Mariotti is an accomplished trial attorney who focuses on many types of complex high-stakes litigation, including private equity and hedge fund litigation, derivative-related claims and cyber theft. Renato’s work includes defending firms and individuals in enforcement actions and conducting internal investigations, advising and advocating for clients in the digital asset and crypto space, and helping trading firms develop internal compliance programs to ensure that traders do not engage in disruptive trading practices.

David Rundle focuses his practice on Financial Services Regulatory Investigations and White Collar litigation. David represents individuals and companies in regulatory and criminal investigations, with a particular focus on the financial services sector. He has extensive experience in cross-border investigations, navigating the processes of different agencies across multiple jurisdictions, and in representing senior banking executives.
