Pro Bono and community

BCLP is committed to making a real and lasting difference to the communities where we work; it is one of our firm's core values. We have a special obligation to make our professional skills available to those communities by representing on a pro bono basis those who cannot afford to pay for legal services. We also contribute other firm resources to fulfilling our Corporate Responsibility (CR) obligations through community engagement and philanthropic giving, encouraging lawyers and staff throughout BCLP to take an active part in these initiatives.

We are a Charter Signatory to the Pro Bono Institute Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge and a member of the UK Collaborative Plan for Pro Bono.

The Firm participates in the BCLP-Concordance Academy Legal Fellowship. The fellowship is a partnership between the BCLP St. Louis office and the Concordance Academy which is a non-profit organization that provides a host of services to inmates as they transition back to society. BCLP dedicates up to two recent graduates hired as associates to serve two-year terms as fellows who spend half of their time providing pro bono legal services for Concordance Academy participants.

Pro Bono report

Making a real and lasting difference to the communities in which we work is one of our core values at BCLP. Toward that end, we feel we have a special obligation to use our professional skills to address the needs of the underserved and to advocate for the protection of human rights, civil rights and liberties, and public rights.

In 2022, our lawyers and other fee earners contributed thousands of hours to hundreds of pro bono matters, including some that generated publicity and awards. In all cases, we were humbled to provide pro bono assistance that was essential to our clients and their unique legal needs.
