On July 15, 5,378 companies relied on their EU-US Privacy Shield self-certification in order to satisfy the GDPR’s adequacy requirement for transferring data from the EU to the US. As of July 16, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) invalidated Privacy Shield (as it did with the Safe Harbor framework before it).

BCLP is holding a short audio teleconference on July 20 to explain the ramifications of the ECJ decision and to discuss the practical impact it will have on firm clients that either relied on their own Privacy Shield certification or the Privacy Shield certification of their service providers.

If you would like to join the conference, please email Tamara Lakic with the subject line "Privacy Shield Conference" to receive the dial-in instructions. This event will take place at 8 PT / 9 MT / 10 CT / 11 ET / 4 UK.
