Biography
Ricardo is an Associate in the firm’s Transport and Asset Finance Team, based in the London office. He works on financing and leasing transactions in the Aviation and Rail sectors. Ricardo also has extensive experience in insurance and aviation disputes and regulatory matters.
Ricardo has prior experience spanning 4 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, including roles in private practice, in-house at a regional airline, and at a large OEM.
Ricardo holds an advanced Master’s Degree (cum laude) in Air and Space Law from Leiden University.

Ricardo’s experience includes advising:
- An English Lessor in respect of the acquisition of nine aircraft and the novation of existing associated leases.
- A Chinese leasing company in relation to the leasing and delivery of three new Airbus A321 NEO aircraft.
- Heathrow Airport Limited regarding the William-Shapps Plan for Rail and associated legislative consultation.
- Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar on potential liabilities that could accrue in the event of an accident involving an aircraft on the then proposed Gibraltarian Aircraft Register.
- A Portuguese helicopter operator (and its reinsurers) in respect of various claims arising from an accident to an Augusta A109S helicopter in Portugal.
- Reinsurers of a large UAE based airline regarding a ground collision incident between a Boeing 777 and a Boeing 737 at Rio de Janeiro-Galeão airport in Brazil.
- A South African regional airline on proposed legislative changes to local ownership and control rules.
- An international commercial drone operator on the effect of its company structure (and changes thereto) on licencing requirements to operate in South Africa.
