Biography

Wayne Ma has experience on a wide variety of real estate transactions, including experience in acquisitions and dispositions of various types of real property, joint ventures, limited recourse and secured financings, private equity and institutional investments and funds formation.

Wayne represents multi-national and Chinese investment banks, financial institutions and private equity funds in both inbound and outbound transactions across Asia, Europe and the United States. His funds experience includes advising fund sponsors in the formation of real estate private equity funds and advising managers in their investment and operational matters.

  • Advising a prestigious international financial institution in China on its investment in the properties commonly known as the Shanghai Knowledge and Innovation Community, an international multi-function knowledge community in Yangpu District, Shanghai
  • Advising CreditEase Global Investments GP I, Ltd., a leader in China’s wealth management industry, in the formation of its real estate funds and its investment in various real estate projects and funds around the globe, marking one of the first outbound funds in China that successfully used the “fast track” outbound approval scheme in Shanghai Free Trade Zone
  • Representing The Carlyle Group in its US$267 million acquisition of an office building in Shanghai called Central Plaza
  • Advising Treasury China Trust on its acquisition of a retail property in Shanghai, China
  • Representing Asia Pacific Land on its US$650 million acquisition and financing of The Centre, a Shanghai trophy office building
  • Advising Century Holding Company Limited, a joint venture between The Carlyle Group and CLSA, on the sale of Hongjia Tower to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yuexiu Real Estate Investment Trust
  • Advising Forum Partners in a debt and equity investment in a borrower, the proceeds of which will be used for the acquisition and development of various properties in China
