First up is a video with an introduction to the programme by, Marcus Pearl (Global Team Leader - Technology and Commercial Transactions) and Amy de La Lama (Chair - Global Data Privacy and Security), and a brief discussion of the acceleration of AI and Data Privacy trends we expect to see in the coming year.

Marcus: Hi, I'm Marcus Pearl, based in BCLP's London office. And joining me today is my partner, Amy de Lama over the pond in Boulder, Colorado. At BCLP, a leading international law firm, we help our clients weather dizzying technological and regulatory change. We're seeing companies laser focus on driving change through innovation to maintain a competitive edge. Nobody can avoid the challenges of the digital world that dominates the global economy and society at large. As leaders of our global tech, digital and data privacy and security practices, we're delighted to launch this new series to help you navigate these challenges. We know there's a wealth of legal information out there. We're in a world of information overload. We'll deliver you everything from quick news flash items to deeper thought pieces on key topics affecting the digital world in short films such as this podcasts, articles, blogs and email updates. And this will come not just from me and Amy, but from all our experts and our global team. We'll be covering topics such as AI, cloud IOT, the privacy and cyber landscape in the US and Europe. Digital assets, so think everything blockchain. Digital disruption in sports and entertainment, ESG, the regulatory landscape around 5G and 6G and many, many more. The first up will be the acceleration of the use of AI in pretty much every industry in the economy and the pace of regulatory change to keep up. The use case of ChatGPT or equivalent AI models is only going to proliferate in the coming months. It will be absolutely transformative not just to society, but to the very essence of contract law and regulation. Let's now consider digital disruption, the use, manipulation and monetization of data by businesses to transform their operational model. So, Amy, of all the myriad of privacy issues that you're seeing in the market, what's the single biggest trend that you think will dominate the rest of 2023 and into 2024?

Amy:Marcus, thanks so much for the fantastic introduction. I'm so excited to be embarking on this journey with you. I think the single biggest trends in the privacy space right now is that there is actually no one trend. Rather, the landscape is dominated by massive technical changes along with increasing enforcement and regulation at almost every turn. So with that in mind, we'll be covering a wide variety of topics from AI to global and US privacy laws, the Digital Services Act and emerging cyber regulation. We will have a lot to talk about. So with that quick read and intro into these markets, I'll hand it back to you.

Marcus: Thanks, Amy. So, we can't wait to get started and would welcome your views on any other topics of interest, so please do get in touch. See you shortly, in episode two.
