San Francisco Partner Tom Lee was quoted Jan. 27 by IEG Policy Agribusiness regarding recent amendments to California’s Proposition 65, which requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that have been identified as causing cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Officials have approved a series of amendments to the warning label regulations seen by many manufacturers as helpful. “For some food manufacturers, this is helpful, but no one would ever say [Prop 65] is fixed,” Lee said. He noted that the amendments make it easier for manufacturers to allocate the labeling requirement to others in the distribution chain, including the producer, packager, importer, supplier or distributor of a product.
