Partner speaks on PFAS risk in houseware products

BCLP Partner Tom Lee recently participated in a panel discussion on the regulatory and litigation risks presented by PFAS in houseware products. The panel was jointly organized by the International Houseware Association and the Cookware and Bakeware Alliance.

PFAS compounds have been used since the 1940s in a variety of consumer products, including non-stick cookware, and are now the subject of significant state and federal regulatory attention. Companies in a number of industries including restaurants, apparel, personal care products and cookware also have been sued by plaintiffs and state agencies, resulting in some casesin settlements in the hundreds of millions, or even billion-dollar, range.

Tom is a partner out of San Francisco and leads the firm’s PFAS Team. The team advises clients on regulatory compliance, environmental due diligence and litigation matters, and provides regular updates on regulatory developments on the Emerging Contaminants/Emerging Solutions blog.
