Biography
Jared Johnson is a member of the firm's Energy, Environment and Infrastructure practice group where he advises clients on state and federal regulatory and transactional matters, primarily in the electric power industry. With experience in private practice and in-house at a multi-national integrated energy company, Jared has advised independent power producers, electric utilities, and financial institutions in matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy, the California Public Utilities Commission and other state regulatory commissions and agencies. In his practice before FERC, he has extensive experience with rate applications, QF certifications, controversy proceedings, enforcement and compliance matters under the Federal Power Act, the Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act (PURPA), and the Public Utility Holding Company Act.
Jared has regularly advised clients on market rule developments in the stakeholder processes of regional transmission operators (RTOs) and independent system operators (ISOs). He has also advised on transactional matters including joint venture formation, power purchase agreements, the purchase and sale of energy attributes including RECs, and the trading of GHG allowances and offset credits. He is an active member of the bars of Washington State and Washington, D.C.
