Biography

Mr. Sunshine has served in the leadership of BCLP for many years. For over eleven years, Mr. Sunshine served as a member of the Management Committee of the firm, which manages worldwide operations, and has also served on its Board of Directors.

His practice focuses on the needs of ultra-high net worth owners and developers of real estate, and provides advice to family offices connected to the real estate industry. His experience includes development and leasing of high-rise office buildings, industrial buildings, retail space, restaurants and movie theaters.

Experience

  • Acquisition and development of real property/purchase and sale of real property: Mr. Sunshine has been involved with retail, office and industrial real estate development. He is experienced in purchase and sale agreements, escrow instructions, title insurance issues, construction contracts and loan documentation review and negotiation. Real estate clients include The Fritz Duda Company, The Irvine Company, Burke Commercial Development, Inc., Columbian Mutual Life Insurance Company, Watson Pharmaceuticals, Resco Self Storage, LA Fitness, Pouch Self Storage and Rhodes Development Company.
  • Lease negotiation and drafting: Mr. Sunshine has negotiated and drafted more than 200 leases with a particular emphasis in representing developers and owners. His experience in leasing includes high-rise office building leases, industrial buildings and retail space, restaurants and movie theaters.
  • Business transactions: For several years Mr. Sunshine served as outside general counsel to Edwards Theatres Circuit, Inc., at the time the largest motion picture theater exhibition chain in the Western United States and was lead counsel in the reorganization of the Company and eventual sale to Regal Cinemas.  Mr. Sunshine’s business clients include Bristol Park Medical Group, Inc., Sperry Van Ness International, Inc., C&E Vision Group, Video Applications, World Stage Entertainment, Hammond Securities LLC, Steadfast Properties and William Hezmalhalch Architects, Inc.
