Anderson Leads Panel of Antitrust Agency Leaders on Anti-Cartel Enforcement in the Digital Era

Brussels Partner In Charge Dave Anderson will once again join officials from more than 140 antitrust agencies from around the world and their non-governmental advisers (NGA) at the virtual ICN Annual Conference, October. 13-15. The event will highlight the most pressing issues affecting antitrust and competition law worldwide in 2021.

Anderson’s practice at BCLP focuses on EU and international antitrust aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, cartels, commercial agreements and abuses of dominant positions.  He contributes to the work of the ICN as a private sector adviser to the European Commission. 

He was invited by the ICN’s Cartel Working Group, led by the French Competition Authority and the Russian Antimonopoly Service, to design and lead a virtual panel discussion on “Anti-cartel Enforcement in the Digital Era: New Investigative Strategies” featuring senior officials from the UK, French, Australian and South African antitrust agencies. Dave and the panel will discuss the role and challenges of data and digitalization in cartel investigations through the lens of a typical investigation including detection, dawn raids, post-raid data assessment and the use of AI/algorithms in prosecutions.

The Hungarian Competition Authority will host this 20^thanniversary Annual Conference of the ICN.  Dave was involved in the private sector effort to create the ICN in 2001 and has been active in the ICN’s Merger, Cartel and Unilateral Conduct Working Groups throughout the ICN’s 20 year history.
