Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) recently achieved a favorable outcome in a matter before the U.S. Small Business Administration for a pro bono client, The Barber Shop, Ltd.

BCLP represented the small business in an administrative appeal before the SBA. The client was referred to the firm by the East Colfax Community Collective, a nonprofit organization that advocates on behalf of small businesses in a diverse and historically underinvested neighborhood in Denver, Colorado.

The SBA initially denied the client’s request to forgive its Paycheck Protection Program loan. BCLP, led by Associate Alex Gano, appealed that denial. After limited motions practice and communication with the administrative law judge and SBA’s counsel, the SBA agreed to forgive the loan. Both sides jointly moved to dismiss the appeal.
