International law firm BCLP today announced that Amy de La Lama has joined as a partner to lead the firm’s global Data Privacy & Cyber Security Team, within the Corporate & Finance Transactions Department. She will be resident in the Boulder office, leading BCLP’s team of experienced data privacy advisers in the United States, Europe and other countries around the globe where BCLP has offices.

De La Lama joins from Baker & McKenzie, where she has specialized in global privacy, data security and cyber security for many years. She provides advice to a wide range of multi-national pharmaceutical and medical device companies, retail companies, online businesses, B2B companies, and other types of organizations regarding these issues.  She has broad experience guiding clients through the development and implementation of broad-based privacy compliance programs as well as advising clients on  GDPR and similar global privacy laws in addition to CCPA, HIPAA and other US privacy law issues. She also provides guidance on breach notification preparedness and response and assists clients in addressing federal, state and global breach notification requirements and responding to related inquiries from government agencies and other parties.

A frequent author on data protection and data breach issues, de La Lama is a certified information privacy practitioner.

“I’m thrilled to be joining BCLP’s Corporate & Finance Transactions Group, and especially to lead the global Data Privacy & Cyber Security Team, where there is tremendous potential for growth and development,” de La Lama said. “I am particularly energized about the firm’s new strategic initiative Project Advance and its vision to transform the firm’s operational infrastructure to help drive growth and client experience. It is truly an exciting time to be joining BCLP.”

“Amy’s background and experience really stand out in the data privacy field, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the firm,” said Partner Stephanie Hosler, global department leader of the Corporate & Finance Transactions Department. “Data privacy and cyber security issues continue to be front of mind for so many of our clients across multiple sectors in the United States, Europe and around the world. We look forward to Amy’s leadership moving forward.”

This follows other recent important hires including new Los Angeles Partner and Co-Lead of the firm’s Appellate & Supreme Court Group Jean-Claude “J.C.” André, and the addition of a second data privacy lawyer in London, Partner Geraldine Scali, from Sidley, who joins UK Practice Head Kate Brimsted. At the same time, the firm has expanded its market-leading Real Estate Practice in Europe with the addition of a seven-lawyer group in Paris, led by renowned Partner Pierre Popesco. The firm’s launch of Project Advance, a new platform for executing the firm’s international growth plans, has set the stage for these strategic hires.
