International law firm BCLP advised Macquarie Capital Venture Capital, NRW.BANK and TechVision Fund on $20 million Series Seed financing round of Cologne-based AI startup octonomy AI. The investment round was led by Macquarie Capital and completed in October 2025. Early-stage investor Capnamic Ventures also participated again.

Founded in 2024, octonomy AI develops intelligent software solutions to automate complex business processes. With this Series Seed financing round — the first involving institutional investors — the company secured capital for international expansion, including new offices in the U.S. and India. Previously, octonomy AI successfully completed two Pre-Seed rounds, raising a total of EUR 6 million.

Elmar Broscheit, Global Co-Head at Macquarie Capital Venture Capital, commented, “Octonomy has developed an AI solution that automates complex knowledge work at an expert level. It’s not just an evolution of chatbots, but a genuine AI revolution, especially in technical support.”

Partner Dr. Albrecht von Breitenbuch commented “octonomy AI exemplifies the next generation of industrial AI applications. We are delighted to have supported our clients in this forward-looking investment.”

BCLP provided comprehensive legal support to the investors from due diligence through structuring and negotiating the investment documentation, including U.S. law aspects.

The BCLP team included Dr. Albrecht von Breitenbuch, Christian Gerhards and Valeria Podmogilni, as well as Dr. Julia Schweitzer, Dr. Kristin Frohne, Daniel Doron and Steve Evans (German/U.S. employment law), and Dominik Weiss and Michael Geier (IP).
