BCLP is proud to have designed and delivered the Senior Managers Development Program in partnership with the Association of Foreign Banks (AFB) for the fifth time. The Senior Managers Development Program is designed to help those in designated senior manager and other senior positions keep abreast of topical areas of regulatory change. The multi-session development program focuses on some of the current key issues facing foreign banks operating in the UK and provides practical advice on what members need to do to ensure compliance and minimize their exposure at their banks.

Over the course of eight sessions, BCLP led courses on such topics as governance, culture and conduct; a whistle-blower framework for both HR and compliance; cyber resilience; UK sanctions framework; diversity & inclusion as regulatory issues; dealing with UK financial regulators; international data flows; and financial crime and fraud risk management.

The BCLP team leading the courses included Partners Polly James, Catherine Turner, Geraldine Scali, Chris Bryant, Kate Brimsted, Andrew Tuson and David Rundle, together with Senior Knowledge Lawyer Samantha Paul, Senior Associates Joseph Ninan and Sonja Hainsworth, and Associate Joanna Munro.

“The BCLP team is honored to have been given another opportunity by the AFB to educate SMF holders at its member banks on important and emerging legal and regulatory topics and to empower them to manage their legal and regulatory risks more effectively. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with the AFB over the years to come,” said global co-leader of the firm’s Financial Services Disputes & Investigations Practice, Polly James.

“AFB and our membership greatly value the very popular Senior Managers Development Course, which has sold out consistently. The SMDP ensures a variety of senior professionals in the AFB membership are kept up to date on the latest in UK regulatory change, and on top of the most crucial aspects that will affect foreign banks. AFB is extremely grateful for our close working partnership with BCLP, and we look forward to delivering more events in partnership,” AFB Chief Executive Giles French commented.

BCLP is currently partnering with the AFB on their 2023 CEO Program – an exclusive and carefully curated program of events open only to the CEOs and branch managers of the AFB’s member banks. BCLP continue to deliver bespoke training to AFB members on an ad hoc basis.

The AFB is a membership organization representing the voice and championing the success of foreign banks operating in the UK, with around 170 international banking group members. The organization represents about 75% of the UK’s foreign banking market.
