We are proud to announce that BCLP has taken meaningful action and signed onto two important initiatives around racial equality.

Last week, BCLP joined the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA), a coalition of more than 165 law firms working collaboratively to address systemic racism. The LFAA aims to amplify the voices of communities and individuals oppressed by racism through the creation of large-scale, coordinated pro bono projects that address systemic racism and drive lasting change.  All members of the LFAA acknowledge their responsibility to increase diversity and to promote equal opportunity and inclusion of people of color.

And today (July 6), BCLP became a founding member of the UK Race Fairness Commitment, which aims to ensure fairness and inclusion at work for Black and ethnic minority job applicants, employees and partners.  Despite great strides to improve diversity within BCLP and across the legal industry more broadly, we have not made enough progress on racial equity.  In joining the UK Race Fairness Commitment, BCLP alongside 15 fellow founding members have pledged to do more to ensure everyone has a chance to succeed.  Our commitment includes publishing annual hiring, promotion and retention figures for Black, all ethnic minority and White job applicants and colleagues.  London Office Managing Partner Segun Osuntokun played an instrumental role in the development of this initiative.
