Partners Megan Barnhill and Chris Bryant participated in a webinar on March 7 focused on the wide array of sanctions and export controls that have been imposed by governments and organizations outside of Israel in response to the conflict in Ukraine.

BCLP was joined by Naama Margolis of Shibolet & Co. to discuss the following topics:

  • An overview of the new Russia-related sanctions and export controls announced by the US, UK and EU;
  • A discussion of how exterritorial jurisdiction can be applied to transactions prohibited under these sanctions and export controls;
  • A discussion of contractual and business risks to Israeli companies and organizations arising from the new sanctions and export controls;
  • And basic tips for navigating the new regulatory landscape while operating in a global environment.

Megan Gajewski Barnhill counsels foreign and domestic clients on regulatory matters related to international business transactions. Specifically, Ms. Barnhill advises clients on regulatory issues related to international trade, including U.S. export controls, trade sanctions, antiboycott, and registration and reporting under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Chris Bryant is a partner in the Antitrust & Competition and International Trade teams, based in the London and Brussels offices. His area of practice covers WTO and international trade law, economic sanctions, export controls and trade remedies, UK & EU competition law, state aid, public procurement and EU regulatory law.
