BCLP has supported the publication of the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) Mental Health Joint Code of Practice (JCOP) as a programme partner – a new, industry-wide framework designed to improve mental health outcomes, through long-term systemic change, across the construction sector. The JCOP is endorsed by the UK Government.

“BCLP is proud to sponsor The Joint Code of Practice together with our partners. The publication marks an important milestone for the construction sector and recognises that improving mental health is crucial to the future of the industry.”, said Gareth Stringer, Partner and Head of Construction in the UK. “I hope organisations across the industry adopt the code and continue to collaborate to create healthier, more sustainable working environments.”

The JCOP introduces a prevention-led approach, providing practical, evidence-based guidance to clients, contractors and the wider supply chain on how to design safer, healthier working environments.

Drawing on extensive industry consultation (with over 3000 responses), research and collaboration with key sector stakeholders, together with on the ground workers, the Code establishes a living framework that will evolve over time through shared learning and data.

As a programme partner, BCLP supports the development of the JCOP and reinforcing the importance of embedding mental health and wellbeing considerations across the sector.
