International law firm BCLP has welcomed Lloyd Stephenson as Global Director of Inclusion & Diversity and Recruitment.

In this newly created role, Lloyd will be responsible for BCLP’s global I&D and recruitment strategies, advancing the firm’s portfolio of award-winning inclusion and diversity initiatives and continuing to develop and enhance the firm’s recruitment efforts to attract the best talent.

An accomplished business leader with more than 20 years of strategic and operational HR experience, Lloyd joins from Ashurst LLP, where under his leadership, as head of diversity and resourcing, the firm won a number of recruitment and social mobility awards. Before entering the legal industry, Lloyd served in several senior HR roles for Barclays, including managing resourcing across Private and Institutional Wealth Management and Personal and Corporate Banking covering 8,000-plus lateral, temporary and early talent hires. He previously worked in both executive search firms and financial services businesses.

“We are delighted to welcome Lloyd to BCLP,” said firm Co-Chairs Lisa Mayhew and Steve Baumer. “Lloyd understands and shares our vision for the pivotal role our inclusive culture plays in our broader people strategy and how this will help drive the performance of our firm in the future.”

A recognized leader at the forefront of inclusion and diversity, his arrival complements BCLP’s move earlier this year to appoint Partner Daisy Reeves as the firm’s inaugural Inclusion & Diversity Client Relationship Partner, a first-of-its-kind role in the legal sector.

“I am excited to join BCLP and look forward to building on the innovative efforts and long-standing commitment to inclusion and diversity for which the firm is known,” Lloyd said. “BCLP is already home to a strong culture, and now we’re focused on amplifying and operationalizing I&D throughout all levels of the business to help us grow on a global scale.”

Lloyd’s arrival is one of several key I&D milestones for BCLP this month. Last week, BCLP earned a spot in the top 10 of the annual Social Mobility Index for the fifth consecutive year. This index ranks U.K. employers on their efforts and actions to ensure talent from all backgrounds, regardless of socio-economic circumstances, has access to the workplace. Earlier this month, Daisy Reeves was ranked as the 5th Most Influential LGBTQ* Executive in the World in the globally recognized OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Models Lists, presented by Yahoo Finance.
