Denver Partner Anthony George was quoted April 2 by the Denver Business Journal concerning revived scrutiny of independent contractors at the national and state level, coupled with a projected uptick in gig workers this year. All of this means Colorado employers should take a fresh look at their relationship with their temporary workers. “What we're seeing in this work-from-home environment is it's breaking down the ties a bit between the service provider and the employer,” George said. Eventually the law will catch up with the gig economy culture, George noted. On the national level, companies and legislators continue to spar over the difference between contractors and true employees.
