BCLP Partner Anthony George was quoted May 4 by Workforce.com on President Joe Biden’s union push and what it could mean for employers now and into the future. George was one of four labor law professionals invited to take part in a Q&A on the topic. When asked whether the pro-union task force Biden established could have an effect on pay scales, George said, “Yes. Both to avoid a union organizing effort and to attract and retain good workers who might otherwise be lured away by the higher wages available (by government mandate) from federal contractors.” On the topic of what employers should do to remain compliant with current labor laws, George said, “Pay attention, stay current, and speak with a labor lawyer. A president can do only so much by Executive Order, but both the National Labor Relations Board and the Department of Labor can and will make life easier for labor unions and harder for employers over the next few years. Changes are coming. Don’t get caught flat-footed.”
