Jeff Wakolbinger, a partner in BCLP’s Intellectual Property and Technology Disputes practice, recently spoke with World Trademark Review about a lawsuit that Starbucks filed against a labor union, Starbucks Workers United, for allegedly using its trademarks without authorization while making political comments and selling merchandise.

In the article, Jeff discussed possible confusion over social media posts from the union, PR considerations, and more.

“If the claims go to judgment, there likely will be lessons to learn regarding limits on free speech and the extent to which a brand owner can recover for confusion that may exist among the general public,” Jeff told World Trademark review.
