London Partners Co-Host Online Roundtable with ‘The Lawyer’

A number of key senior in-house counsel from the global banking sector recently came together with BCLP and The Lawyer’s editor, Catrin Griffiths, for an online roundtable concerning the challenges faced by the financial sector during lockdown. 

Representatives from seven market-leading financial institutions attended the event: James Morgan (co-general counsel EMEA at MUFG), Shanika Amarasekara (general counsel and company secretary at British Business Bank), Philip Jockelson (deputy GC – head of corporate & structuring legal at HSBC), Paul Shields (managing director, head of legal – Finance, UK at Société Générale), Helen Fletcher (legal COO EMEA at BNP Paribas), Phil Hagan (head of corporate and M&A at Lloyds Banking Group) and Sonya Rogerson (general counsel at Bank of China). 

Banking Partner Daisy Reeves and Financial Services Regulatory Partner Daniel Csefalvay, who co-moderated the roundtable, commented: “We were delighted to co-host, with Cat and The Lawyer, this virtual roundtable for key GCs from the global banking sector where we discussed the challenges that banks operating in the London market are currently experiencing and also anticipating down the track, particularly in light of the coronavirus pandemic and the additional overlay that was having on ‘business as usual’ priorities.”
