BCLP Partner Patrick Johnson has contributed to a thought-leadership piece produced by Downing LLP (Downing), published Jan. 19, which explores why full-fiber broadband is a vital infrastructure development that can have long-lasting positive business, economic and environmental implications. Patrick outlines the important role full-fiber has to play in the UK’s journey to net zero: “As well as the reductions in pollution from the increase in remote working and reduced commuting, the technologies used to provide fiber broadband are more efficient than those used for copper and cable networks and therefore lead to reduced emissions for similar bandwidths.”

The article follows BCLP having recently advised Downing on a £145 million funding deal with broadband provider Broadway Partner (Broadway) to accelerate a delivery program to bring full-fiber broadband to rural communities across Wales and Scotland.
