BCLP Partner Jim Lawrence will participate in the 2021 This Can Happen virtual conference, Nov. 16-17. The award-winning annual conference addresses critical issues around workplace mental health through 30 sessions and two streams, covering Asia, Europe and U.S.-specific content.

This Can Happen, a mental health care organization based in London, supports employers of all sizes as they work to empower workplace mental health. The two-day conference attracts more than 1,850 global delegates from over 250 companies. Sessions address issues such as resilience, loneliness, transgender, fertility, LGBT and more.

Jim will join a discussion focused on forms of addiction, and how this intersects with mental health. The panel will include personal stories from those who’ve experienced addiction, looking at how this influenced their mental health and performance at work, and suggest proactive, tangible steps employers can take to support their staff in this space.

At BCLP, Jim works as a commercial litigator and trial lawyer handling a wide range of disputes arising in the U.S. and abroad. He also serves as co-leader of the firm's Higher Education Team, Global Wellbeing Advisory Board and LGBTQ Allies Committee. Jim is passionate about destigmatizing mental health challenges in the legal industry as a result of his own experience with substance abuse disorder.
