Partner Phil Karmel will co-chair and present at the Practising Law Institute’s upcoming all-day virtual conference, “Environmental Regulation in Practice 2021: New Challenges and Priorities.” The Sept. 17 program will feature a lineup of leading practitioners discussing the ever-evolving area of environmental law regulation and enforcement. Critical changes are expected in environment regulation that will shape local energy policies while impacting multiple areas of legal practice including real estate contracts, toxic tort litigation and corporate compliance.

Along with co-chairing the conference, Phil will present on today’s new emphasis on cumulative impacts, and the real-world challenges of assessing and categorizing them. His panel will examine climate change, air pollution, water pollution and drinking water, chemical and pesticide regulation, the protection of wildlife, and environmental impact review.

Phil’s practice at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner includes matters arising under environmental review statutes (NEPA and SEQRA); Clean Air Act permitting, compliance and litigation; Superfund and oil spill litigation and counseling; pesticide-related personal injury and property damage litigation; zoning and other land use matters; government investigations; brownfields redevelopment; eminent domain litigation; and the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions. He is a frequent speaker and author on environmental, land use, real estate and toxic tort matters.

Conference attendees will have access to all program materials, will be able to view program slides and submit questions to the speakers during the presentation.
