Partner Quoted by ‘SC Magazine’ on Privacy Expectations and Remote Workers
Jun 29, 2021Partner Amy de La Lama, chair of BCLP’s Global Data Privacy & Security Team, was quoted June 24 by SC Magazine on the struggle to balance monitoring of remote workforces with their privacy expectations. There has been “increasing attention on providing employees with more transparency regarding how their activities are monitored, as well as expectations with regard to company system use, and the growing need to balance expectations regarding productivity and engagement with flagging morale as the pandemic has continued,” she noted. “Therefore, organizations should be focused on understanding how best to achieve their internal goals while minimizing the level of monitoring and intrusiveness where possible. They should also provide their employees with information regarding these efforts and related employee expectations by implementing and disseminating an Acceptable Use Policy or similar policy or procedure. Finally, they should consider local requirements regarding monitoring and factor these into the decision-making and notice processes.”
