BCLP Partner Puanani Norwood has been recognized by the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) as a 2026 Alumni Award recipient.

Each year, UMKC recognizes a select group of alumni for their inspirational accomplishments. This year, a total of 15 alumni and one family were recognized for the awards. Puanani was among the School Alumni Achievement Awardees, specifically for the School of Law. Puanani is a 2015 graduate of the UMKC law school program.

Puanani is a Partner in BCLP’s Real Estate Practice and also serves as Office Managing Partner for the Los Angeles office.

With a particular focus on commercial real estate transactions within the energy sector, Puanani represents developers and utility companies in the construction, sale, and, acquisition of electric energy generating projects, including build-transfer transactions across the U.S. She also is experienced in representing national and regional financial institution investors and lenders in connection with such projects, including leading internal and external local counsel teams advising on all aspects of local tax, environmental, permitting, and regulatory matters. In addition to her energy practice, Puanani advises clients on various commercial leasing matters. Such negotiations often involve construction of alterations to leased properties, lease renewals, and options or license agreements for use of space on a temporary basis.

The Class of 2026 awardees will be celebrated by the university in April 2026. The event is the university’s largest event supporting student completion grants, which help cover financial holds that could otherwise be a barrier to students graduating.
